Basement Remodel- New Seabury, Ma

The goal of this project was to take an ordinary concrete basement and create a great play area for kids and adults. This space opens to an outdoor shower and private boat dock.

We kept a lighter Cape Cod feel with the use of paint and sand colored rug. Paint is "Nantucket Gray" from Benjamin Moore with trim in "Simple White," also from BM. 

The area also includes a 1/2 bath. Not shown.

I used the client's existing sectional, art and wood pieces. The antique pine really compliments the blue paint and warms up the space. More furniture to be added later...

    

Sandwich Nursery- Twin Boys!

The nursery had to be special. This is the woman that takes care of my daughter, and she's amazing at it. I don't know what we are going to do without her, but I wish her and her family all of the best, but most of all- really easy babies...

We began the nursery with bumpers from Serena and Lilly. An aqua Madras plaid with red accents. The sheets are white with red stars. Too cute.

Serena and Lilly is the greatest nursery bedding as far as style and quality, very tasteful, fun, but never tacky. Perfect. I highly recommend them, they are a bit on the higher end, but sometimes you have to treat yourself.

For they twin boys we wanted to create a fun and cute room without being too babyish. I ended up using five different blues along with Atrium White for the walls. The ceiling was a soft sky blue, trim was a darkish navy and stripes alternated between a medium strength aqua to a lighter shade aqua. The pinstripe was in a medium navy.

Cribs are in an espresso finish, more pics to come...

New Seabury, Cape Cod

We decorated this wonderful summer home in about three months. It was completely empty when we began the project and it was a lot of fun to be a part of. 

My goal was to create a comfortable and unique home for this young family. Furnishings were chosen for their design, durability and classic character. 

Antiques were mixed with new furnishings to create a sense of history, wallpapers from England were put in several areas to add texture, pattern and whimsy. Our color palette ranged from coral to beach glass, with the main living area and stair well painted deep camel.

We wanted the house to feel light for Summer and also fantastic in other months.

Cotuit Updates

Some recent photos of a house in Cotuit that is beginning the accessory stage. We have found our major pieces and now its time to add personality. This is a wonderful client that loves older pieces mixed with new. (I got a little funky with Photoshop on one of these...it looked better than my picture.)

Osterville Updates

I love this house. It's filled with such great things that capture the feeling of what is truly Cape Cod.  There is more to do, as always. The layering process takes time and patience, especially when involving antiques and creating a feeling of authenticity.

 

Grace's Bedroom

Grace is 11 years old and was an absolute dream to work with. She knew exactly what she wanted and was so enthusiastic and fun to be around. She wanted pink and she wanted vintage. We went from a small child's room to a soon-to-be teenager's dream space. Twin bunks became a full, four-poster bed, a new armoire, hot pink chairs, polka dot draperies, a thick shaggy carpet and a fresh coat of pink paint completely transformed Grace's room. On the day of installation she screamed with excitement. Definitely my favorite client reaction so far...
This work was done through a fantastic Interior Design firm- Oliver Interiors, located in Newton, MA.

Pool House

I recently assisted with the details of a small pool house in Cotuit. Peter Field Building and Restoration constructed this fine building, it has all of the necessary amenities and is built beautifully. My favorite thing about the pool house is the cedar walls, they give these rooms such a warm feel. 

Old Post Road

The Old Post Road House in Cotuit is absolutely spectacular. Our goal was to create a classic and comfortable home on Cape Cod, luxurious but unpretentious. Details were extremely important for finishes, hardware, tile, cabinetry, lighting and color- these elements can make all of the difference for a potential buyer. The view isn't so bad either-

Although it is still a work in progress we are very pleased with the results so far. Built by Peter Field BNR, his work and attention to detail is of the highest quality.

Lighting

These two pieces are from a Hyannisport house, the ship's lantern is an antique and hanging pendant is from my favorite lighting company. Great New England style.

Drapery

I tend to believe that simple is best when it comes to the world of drapery. It is a very important step in finishing a room, however I tend to steer clear of "poodle" style draperies and prefer clean and crisp finishes to a room. This does not mean that fabrics and rods must be plain, they can be very exciting and rich.

This first photo is of a treatment that we did for a bay window in a family room. Simple striped panels with an antique brass rod and rings.

The next photo is of a living room that had existing furnishings and decoration. We chose pinch pleat panels in a camel colored linen with an ivory check for fabric and then complemented the honey walnut tones in the room with a chunky, fluted rod and rings.

The third image is of an existing bedroom that had sheers and a valance that desperately needed simplifying. The sheers were kept and a cornice was created in a pinstriped moire to complement the ocean view and existing furnishings.
